If you'd like to make a standalone patch, just cut out fabric edges after stitching the 2nd thread. Cut the edges close to the stitches. Afterwords stitch out the rest of design (on water soluble backing holding the design in hoop), and you've got a lovely butterfly patch. Have fun!
